Is your venture a UBC spin-off?
HATCH Venture Builder at Innovation UBC supports established, UBC research-based venture teams with the space, resources and expertise to scale their business.
To be eligible you must be a co-founder of a UBC spin-off company and have completed Innovation UBC’s Venture Founder program.

Built your own idea?
If you’re a UBC student, faculty member, or recent graduate building a venture that doesn’t involve UBC intellectual property, you can apply directly to HATCH through ICICS.
- Teams can apply anytime.
- Submissions are reviewed based on the next intake period : May or November every year.
- May intake deadline: May 4th, 2026
- May intake interviews: May 5th · May 12th · May 14th · May 19th
- Interviews involve a short presentation similar to what you delivered in Session 16 of Venture Founder, covering the ‘4 T’s’. You’ll have 5 minutes to present followed by 45 minutes of Q&A.
You must have completed the Venture Founder program before applying. Applications are reviewed on a rolling basis every May and November.
